We are driven by drives

If we had to sum up Danfoss Drives in one word, that word would be ‘passion’. We are driven by drives and passionate about providing a competitive edge in key applications across various industries. This passion is clearly visible in many areas of our business.

We live and breathe drives. Danfoss Drives is unique in that it is 100% focused on developing, manufacturing and supplying AC drives. Our portfolio of high-quality, application-optimized products maximizes process performance, saves the most energy and minimizes emissions.

We are the AC drives partner that shares your goals, and have built our business on mutual trust and respect. In an ever-changing world, we place a high emphasis on speed and agility in all areas of our operations.

Passion is in our culture – in all our people. With two giants in the drives industry – Danfoss and Vacon – now successfully merged, we can offer 68 years of combined experience and 5,000 people specialized in motor control related to all industries and applications situated around the world. Our production and R&D units are located in China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, India, Italy and the USA. And, with around 1,000 research and development engineers, we are a technology trendsetter; able to push the boundaries of innovation to strengthen our customers’ competitive edge, and to enable the world of tomorrow to do more with less.

We are passionate about helping you get the most out of your applications by providing efficient lifecycle services. With centers of excellence in key regions, sales companies and service centers in more than 50 countries and an overall presence in more than 100 countries, Danfoss Drives has, beyond doubt, a global reach and a professional local touch. We aim to fulfill and even exceed our customers’ requirements by offering even closer cooperation and service excellence and ensuring the distance to products and support is minimal.

We are passionate about the future. At Danfoss Drives, we recognize and address the megatrends affecting the world today. Innovating technology that tackles climate change, helps cope with rapid urbanization and provides successful and sustained water and wastewater management are high on our agenda.

Our in-depth expertise is also relied upon in industries operating in harsh environments. Our robust AC drives designed for harsh conditions have a significantly longer, trouble-free lifetime. They ensure the reliable operation of applications and optimize processes in industries with extreme temperatures, dust and moisture such as mining and minerals, pulp and paper and marine and offshore.

In 2025, we estimate that more than 5 billion people (over 50% of the estimated world population) will benefit directly or indirectly from the benefits provided by Danfoss Drives in their everyday lives. And the installed base of drives will be helping to save the annual equivalent of 60 hours of global energy consumption. We genuinely believe that a better tomorrow is driven by drives. And, more importantly, a better tomorrow can and will be driven by Danfoss Drives.

How does Danfoss Drives differ from other drives manufacturers?

One concrete example of how we differ from our competitors is in our motor and system independence. Danfoss drives are independent of control systems and motor technology. This freedom enables you to choose the motor technology and motor manufacturer that best suit your application to ensure its peak performance and optimized energy consumption. Making the right choice of drive and optimizing your entire system creates potential energy savings of up to 60%.

Using the automatic motor adaptation function, in less than three seconds, Danfoss AC drives can be configured to control the operation of any standard asynchronous (IM), permanent magnet (PM) or synchronous reluctance motor. Automatic motor adaptation can be performed when the drive is at standstill. And, as it doesn’t generate any torque on the shaft, it can be carried out on a motor that’s already installed.

With all motors controlled by the same drive, operators can use the same user and system interfaces, the same extensions, and the same proven, reliable technology over the entire power range. This saves commissioning time, reduces training costs, simplifies maintenance activities and keeps spare part stock levels to a minimum.
